Persephone's Trust
The Greek Goddess Persephone spent half the year above ground with her mother, Demeter, and half the year as Queen of the Underworld, with her consort, Hades. The times of spring and autumn equinox are symbolic of her movement between the worlds. This rosary symbolizes her trust that not only will she return home in time (home to her mother, home to her mate), but also that she really IS home, wherever she is. Time brings changes, but the present moment is sacred as well. The rosary beads are natural tree agate and black tourmaline, accented with vintage glass crystal beads. The pendant is made from a 19th-century French optician's lens (you can clearly see the optician's identifying number engraved on the glass). The text is from a songbook from about 1915. |
